Part-Time Freight Handler

We are seeking dedicated individuals to assist in transporting freight within our busy dock area. As a key player in our operations, you'll ensure that freight is loaded efficiently and accurately onto trailers for delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Freight Handler, your role will include:

• Utilizing motorized and manual equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to handle freight.
• Verifying that all documentation aligns with freight specifications, including type, weight, and hazardous materials.
• Securing freight within trailers using the right tools and supplies, ensuring safe transportation.
• Assessing and repairing damaged freight when necessary.
• Completing required documentation and reports accurately.
• Assisting customers with freight inquiries and related documentation.
• Performing hostling duties as needed.
• Adhering to all applicable laws and company policies.
• Taking on additional duties as required.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
To be successful in this role, you should have:

• A high school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operations (preferred).
• The ability to count and perform basic math functions.
• Basic verbal and written communication skills.
• The physical capability to lift and move freight of varying weights on a regular basis.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires working in a dock environment with exposure to varying weather conditions and a fast-paced setting. Flexibility in hours is needed based on operational requirements. The shift time for this position may fall between 0400 - 0900 or 1700 - 2200.

COMPENSATION:
The pay for this position ranges from $21.61 to $25.28 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. Additionally, eligible employees will have access to various benefits including health, vision, and dental insurance, retirement savings plans, paid time off, and more.
