Part-Time Freight Handler

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Join our dynamic team as a Part-Time Freight Handler! In this role, you will be responsible for transporting freight within the dock area and efficiently loading it onto trailers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
As a Freight Handler, you will:
- Handle freight using various motorized and manual equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Ensure that documentation accurately reflects freight details such as type, weight, and hazardous materials.
- Secure freight inside trailers with appropriate tools and supplies.
- Repair damaged freight as needed.
- Complete necessary documentation and reports.
- Assist customers with freight-related inquiries.
- Perform hostling duties if required.
- Adhere strictly to all laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Carry out other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Previous experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operation is preferred.
- For hostler/yard mule duties, relevant experience is preferred.
- Ability to perform basic math and counting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capable of lifting and carrying freight of varying weights regularly and managing heavy dock plates and trailer doors.
- Ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Previous dock or warehouse experience is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Fast-paced dock environment requiring exposure to various weather conditions, noise, and dust.
- Work hours may vary based on operational needs.
- Regular interactions with service center personnel are expected.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Shift Times: 0400 - 1000 or 1600 - 2200

PAY TRANSPARENCY:
The compensation range for this position is $22.11 - $25.86 per hour, with starting pay at $22.11 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, location, and other job-related factors.
