Job Summary of Freight Mover:

Freight Mover play a vital role in the logistics chain by managing the movement of materials within warehouse facilities. Their duties encompass tasks such as unloading freight, organizing inventory, storing items, and preparing shipments for dispatch. They rely on equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to carry out these functions efficiently.

Responsibilities of Freight Mover:

• Carry out the movement of cargo by utilizing the correct motorized and manual equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Ensure that the information presented in the documentation corresponds accurately to the freight description, including factors like the category of goods, their mass, and any potentially dangerous substances, through the use of current electronic or manual processes.
• Ensure the stability of freight loaded in trailers by employing the correct tools and resources like pallets, straps, and ropes.
• Recover and fix harmed shipments when it is essential. Confirm and conclude necessary paperwork and reports. Offer support to clients with shipments and the required documentation.
• Carry out host-related tasks if needed.
• Follow all applicable laws and regulations, as well as the internal policies and protocols of the company.
• Carry out any other responsibilities as needed.

Qualification of Freight Mover:

• Preferably, candidates should have a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Individuals must be at least 18 years old in order to participate.
• Experience in warehouse operations, freight handling, and forklift usage is preferred.
• Preferably, candidates should have prior experience for positions that entail hostler/yard mule tasks.
• Capacity to conduct simple calculations and count numbers, using a calculator or not. Essential proficiency in written and verbal interactions.
• Capacity to lift and move hand freight with differing weights multiple times weekly, lift dock plates weighing about 100 pounds, and open trailer doors with about 75 pounds of required lift force, up to several times daily.
• Capacity to flex, turn, kneel, and propel or tug freight all through the working period.
• Candidates should have the capability to work alone or in a group, with a preference for those with previous experience in dock or warehouse settings.

Working Conditions of Freight Mover:

• Dock environment; exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, noise.
